Delamore Lodge on Waiheke Island - walk to the front and the epitome of luxe is slowly revealed. Through the main areas, sculptures, fountains and bas reliefs all lend an air of elegant eccentricity. My favourite spot: the outdoor dining area, warmed by a big Mexican style fireplace and overlooking the sparkling blue Pacific.
